For my Digital world blogs so far I have written on how Digital World effects our idea of community, completed a Prezi on the development of the Gibson SG, a citizen journalism piece on Unitec Interior Design fundraiser and a blog on how computer technology has changed how we collect, store and present information. In this reflection I’m going to analyse the strengths in my blogs so far, the weaknesses and what I will change in the future.
One of my particular strengths is research, however within my blogs I have chosen to go for a more casual style of writing. I think this is one of the weaknesses in my writing. Although my points are valid, I do not have valid evidence to back them up; much of it is from my own personal observations and conclusion that I have come to. This is also another weakness, as I have implemented what we have learnt in class much of my work is based on technology we use rather than a broader range, and because I didn’t use my an academic style I haven’t remained opinion based rather than factual.
Editing is another weakness within my blogs. I found it difficult to find my own errors and improve my writing. All my blogs are written in what I call ‘speaking style’ rather than been crafted they are all written in the same way I would say the information in a conversation.
A strength within my articles is they are insightful as how digital technology has affected our society; our idea of community (The digital world and Humanity) , our ability as individuals to capture and instantaneously create news across the world (Unitec Interior Design fundraiser), how we collect, store and present information (Prezi and Computer Technology in Information Storage)
In the future I would only approach my blog differently by perhaps taking more time to edit, this would allow me to increase my academic tone and style and to make structured information in a more academic style. I particularly liked Jeremy’s blog and I would in future style my blogs more like his including more images but using an academic formula, I would also be interested in approaching the blog from another direction maybe implementing twitter and using my I-phone to do a video journal.
